dream center

2025. Cast aluminium. 38 × 55 × 9 cm

ABOUT WORK

This work responds to changing urban landscapes, specifically in relation to a site in Tokyo’s east where the “San-ai Dream Center” once stood. Known for its cylindrical glass facade, the building was a 1960s showroom for emerging Japanese technologies. Its recent demolition became a reference point for thinking about architectural ideologies and the shifting role of spaces once designed to project futures, such as the name ‘Dream Center’ suggests.

Two cast aluminium sculptures, dream center (2025) is derived from discarded architectural models. The models had been created by architects tasked with developing plans for proposing new structures for the site.
